Reflection:
I think having an online journal, such as a blog, would be a great way to reflect on the day's lessons. I need to do more reflection in order to become a more effective teacher. You know the usual routine....hurry to complete a lesson plan, rush to send it to your administrator on time, scramble to find all the materials you need (with no budget), and finally teach the lesson. I am guilty of just rushing on to the next lesson. I think blogging would be one way I could pause for a moment to make sure I am using best teaching practices and effective classroom management.

ReplyDeleteUnlike a structured discussion group, a blog provides each individual with their own web space in which to post personal views and comments on any topic. Blogs can also be used to keep parents in touch with what’s going on in their child’s classroom. Blogs can contain movies and pictures of students field trips or class projects..
A web-site Blog for student-to-student communication builds teamwork and communication skills. Blogs can be used to link student –to-student communication with a classroom, grade level, or school or to use the internet to connect to classroom across the globe, by building a global learning community. Teachers can set up Keypal assignments that help students practice communication skills while enhancing cultural awareness. Blogs connect students to other students for the purpose of learning about each other and exchanging ideas, that increases the chance for personal growth and enrichment that would not be found in just using traditional instruction in the classroom.
. Students today live in a world where computers and the Internet are as common as telephones. These technology skills are now life skills. Duffy, J,. & McDonald, J. (2007). Teachers can integrate the Web into classroom activities to enhance learning and use the Internet as a tool for student to complete their tasks at hand.
